Dimapur, Sep. 1 (EMN): Nagaland unit of the National People’s Party (NPP) observed the party’s 10th foundation day on September 1 near the Morung Express House at Duncan Bosti in Dimapur. The foundation day also coincided with the 75th birth anniversary of its party’s founder, Purno Agitok Sangma, popularly known as PA Sangma.
An update from NPP Nagaland stated that the occasion was marked with the inauguration of the Dimapur district party office by the state president, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema.
While highlighting the significance of the day, Dr. Ahoto congratulated the Dimapur district unit in their perseverance for excellence and for setting up the party office in a record time. He also called upon the party workers to emulate the life of Late PA Sangma, who had dedicated his whole life for the betterment of the people and the society. He briefly spoke about the humble beginning of Sangma’s life from a small village in the Garo Hills and how he gradually rose to the office of the Speaker of Lok Sabha by sheer dint of his merit, determination and integrity.
Dr. Ahoto also apprised the gathering about the consistent growth of NPP into the stature of a national party since its inception in 2013. He further expressed confidence that the celebration of its 10th foundation day would serve as an important milestone for carrying forward the vision and mission of Late PA Sangma.
Short speeches were also delivered by Lima Longchar, state advisor-cum-convenor of Mokokchung district; Abel Achumi, state secretary (protocol); Heto Achumi, NPYF vice president; and Apong Aier, NPYF president of Dimapur-III. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Wojamo Yanthan, vice president of Dimapur district.
