Dimapur, June 26 (EMN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) on Saturday reiterated its support to the party legislature wing’s representation to the governor seeking an independent enquiry into the use of public funds by the state government.

In a press communiqué, the party questioned the sanctioning of INR 30 crore to a private hospital (referring to Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research) to develop a Covid facility, while stating that the leasing of land and buildings to a private entity for 30 years needs a probe.

It said that the MoU signed between CMC Vellore, Nagaland government and Emmanuel Hospital Association in 2005 didn’t have any clause for the state government to make any investment.

Stating that “there are no visible profitable returns for the state and its people” from CIHSR, it said healthcare centres in other districts need attention in terms of fund and manpower.

The party also expressed “fear” if the Kohima Smart City project would score the required points going by the present pace of work, while reminding that Kohima was selected for the project and INR 1000 crore sanctioned, out of which INR 196 crore was released during the year 2016-17 when TR Zeliang was the chief minister.

It claimed that fund was not released on time thereafter due to the state’s inability to give its share while spending resources towards acquiring land for Chiethu Greenfield Airport and diverting funds to other projects.

Citing these reasons, the party has sought the intervention of the governor and ensure a probe into the use of public fund.
