Dimapur, June 2 (EMN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) held a state-level workshop with PCC officials, PCC members, frontals and cells to discuss and plan the execution of the Udaipur Nav Sankalp Declaration at Congress Bhavan in Kohima on June 1.

Speaking on the occasion, AICC secretary and in-charge of Nagaland, Ranajit Mukherjee, exhorted the delegates to reconnect and take the Congress’ programmes, policies, ideology and principles to the grassroots. Urging the participants to be vigilant against destructive and divisive communal forces, he said the Congress is the only party that can unite the nation and provide a harmonious environment.

He further called for humility to accept the present circumstances and the courage to take on the challenges facing the party, an update from NPCC communication department stated.

Also speaking at the programme, NPCC president, K Therie, said the basis of the Congress’ fight was ‘Justice for all.’ He alleged that the reactionary stance of other parties including regional political parties has led to the destruction of centuries of harmony and the emergence of religious disputes and intolerance.

Therie added that the BJP with barely 35% of votes in the nation continues to rule because the other political parties are unable to put up a united alternative. Drawing attention on nearly 19 lakh missing EVM, Therie stated that NPCC would take up the issue with the ECI after its reply to a representation filed by a group of NGO. He added NPCC would continue its demand for ballot paper system.

Therie also called upon the Mahila workers to present suggestions on the implementation of 33% reservation for women. He encouraged the youth and younger generations not to lose heart at this juncture but rededicate in the mission to provide a way out for upcoming generations.

The workshop was chaired by NPCC general secretary, Capt. GK Zhimomi, while welcome and introductory speech on the implementation of the Udaipur Nav Sankalp Declaration was delivered by its working president, Khriedi Theunuo and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by its general secretary, Shaboh Konyak.
