Dimapur, July 3 (EMN): Reacting to the recent mysterious deaths of Rosy and Samuel Sangma in Gurugram, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has demanded the Nagaland government to file a first information report (FIR) into the case and pay compensation of INR 10 lakh to the bereaved family from the public exchequer.

“The state has lost two young upcoming citizens at Gurugram mysteriously. It is sad that young Nagaland citizens continue to face humiliation at the hands of some unscrupulous characters in the mainland,” stated NPCC president K Therie on Saturday.

Therie stated that Nagas have tolerated humiliation and discrimination in their pursuit for peaceful association with mainland people despite of their continuous different outlook against Nagas in all round activities including in the functioning of government as partners. He went on to allege that some have never learned that “we are equals” because of their culture, ungodly religion and social practices.

Referring to the findings of NPCC secretary, Temjenyanger Longkumer, and the chairman of NPCC minority department, Rajesh Sethi, Therie has termed it ‘suspicious’ on the cause for the death of air hostess Rosy on June 24 at Alpha Hospital.

“People do not just die because of kidney stone after reaching hospital. Hospital bills as alleged also do not show service to humankind but reflect extortion. Our minds are not at rest,” Therie added.

Therie also stated that the mysterious death of her nephew Samuel Sangma on June 25 at Altman’s International Hotel room by hanging cannot be a case of suicide.

“He stood his ground questioning the doctor and staff as to why ice cream was advised to be served following which late Rosy collapsed. He also spoke to family members stating that unless justice is done to his aunty, he would not return home. Further, Samuel was talking to family members in Dimapur even at 8.30 am but it was reported he was found hanging at 9 am. Within 30 minutes the report of his death came in. According to our information, Samuel Sangma has struggled and lived in and around Delhi for more than 9 years successfully, Therie said.

Meanwhile, the NPCC has appreciated the officials and staff of Nagaland House, Delhi, for sending their bodies home and pursuing the case at their levels.

However, Therie has questioned on why the post-mortem report was not released despite the lapse of over one week saying it had only raised more doubt.

“Why has the chief minister not taken up with his Haryana counterpart? Are any of Nagaland’s citizens of any less importance before the state government?, Therie queried.

Stating that the recent incident was not only the case where “our children’s bodies were brought home from various states,” Therie asked whether it is the duty of the state government to protect life and future of Naga youth wherever they are. “State government must let the nation know we want equal treatment and respect, just as we do to them and just as our youth serve them,” Therie added.
