Dimapur, Feb. 8 (EMN): As the present tenure of the Rajya Sabha MP from Nagaland, KG Kenye, would complete on April 2 next, the Nagaland Congress on Tuesday cautioned that electing a saffron member from the Nagaland State Assembly would be the final death-blow to the image and standing of the people of Nagaland, especially the church.

A press release issued by the president of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), K Therie, stated that the tenure of KG Kenye, Rajya Sabha MP, would end on April 2 adding that the election for RS MP would be notified soon.

“BJP appears to be persuading for the seat. It is sad to imagine a saffron MP from Nagaland standing before Parliament, exhibiting representation of a 98% Christian population,” Therie cautioned.

Therie has also accused the NDPP and NPF of doing everything for RSS-BJP in disguise of regional political party for the past 19 years saying, “They have accepted the idea of Hindutva nationalism.”

“They are the B team of BJP. They are more than a saffron brigade. They fall in the class of political traitors. They fear BJP will use the NIA and CBI against them for their own crimes,” he alleged.

He went on to claim that both the MP of NPF and NDPP voted for CAA, wherein the Lok Sabha MP cleared his position stating that it was his party’s direction. He added that NPF suspended KG Kenye for voting for CAA and later decided to join BJP whose government brought the CAA bill.

While reiterating that the regional political parties’ actions are betrayal of political ethics and betrayal of own religion and faith, Nagaland Congress warned that electing a saffron member for Rajya Sabha from Nagaland State Assembly would be the final death-blow to the image and standing of the people of Nagaland, specially the church.
