Dimapur, Dec. 1 (EMN): Greeting the Naga people on the occasion of 60th Statehood Day, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has appealed to the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) to rethink on their demand for Frontier Nagaland State and assured of justice and equality, given an opportunity.

Nagaland Congress, in a press release issued by its communication department, also appealed to the Naga National Workers to conclude the negotiation in order to develop the state and create jobs, while it further appealed to the people to vote for the “change you want to see and feel.”

On the occasion, NPCC lamented that Nagaland continues to face resistance and was not allowed to fully utilise its authority and resources to develop despite attaining statehood for six decades.

“Today we remained without medical colleges, engineering colleges, industries, and our infrastructures are at the lowest among the states. We are the 16th state in the nation but have remained at the bottom in development,” NPCC said.

It alleged that 25 years of negotiation had resulted in corruption. To bolster its claimed, NPCC pointed that there was no project that ends without cuts of multi-commissions. It went on to alleged that VC and VDB were forced to sign blank cheques by RD to draw whatever amount they want from the accounts of the villages, while even pensioners have to pay commission to receive their dues.

NPCC expressed apprehension that Nagaland might disintegrate in the 60th year and finally land in the same situation as Jammu and Kashmir. It squarely blamed the 60 MLAs for lacking concern for the integrity of the state they represented. NPCC stated that they would be held responsible should disintegration ever take place.
