Kohima, Sep. 18 (EMN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday said that Nagaland was yet to receive funds from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) for 2018-19 for the damage caused by the monsoon in the state this year.

However, Rio said that relief aid that was received from individuals and NGOs to the chief minister’s relief fund as on September 14 totalled INR 4, 69,24,536.83.

“The amount received from individuals/NGOs are under hectic operations for relief/rehabilitation/ex-gratia to the affected families and to meet the critical gaps not covered under NDRF sanctions,” Rio stated in a written reply to a question raised by MLA Muthingnyuba Sangtam.

The MLA had also sought details of 4000 people who were affected. The chief minister stated that the detailed list was being compiled by the districts; the consolidated final list was yet to be received. He pointed out that the affected population was much more than 4000 because entire Kiphire district and several administrative subdivisions in all the 11 districts of the state were severely affected.
