Dimapur, Feb. 9 (EMN): Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) under the leadership of its president, Brig. (retired) S Singya, and the president of Naga National Council (NNC), Senka Ao, unanimously resolved to stand united against all odds and pursue the Naga cause in one voice.

The resolution to this effect was taken during a high-level meeting of the NNC/FGN held on February 8 in Dimapur, a press release from FGN secretary general, Ghuvishe V Zhimomi, stated on Wednesday.

Quoting a phrase from the Bible which stated that ‘a divided house cannot stand,’ NNC/FGN firmly believed that unity is strength and is the need of the hour for the Nagas. It was of the view that divisions and divisive forces have no place in the pursuit of the Naga aspirations as they only served to weaken and fragment the clarion call of the nation.

“The Naga dream has to be pursued more vigorously and only unity can lead to the building of a strong nation. Territorial divisions are insignificant and should not hinder our goal,” the statement read.

It stated that the NNC/FGN, as a part and parcel of the NNPG, has been supporting and continues to support the Indo- Naga political dialogue between the GoI and the WC, NNPG. However, it expressed concern to note that the final agreement has still not been inked by the two entities even after a lapse of more than two years of satisfactorily concluding the talks. Stating that the political talks were not merely political gimmicks to gain political mileage by the government in power at Delhi, it reminded the GoI that too much procrastination might not serve any purpose but proved detrimental to all concerned.

Meanwhile, NNC/FGN has fervently appealed to all the Nagas to provide shelter and humanitarian aids to the displaced Myanmar Nagas who have been forced to flee from the trouble torn Myanmar to other Naga inhabited areas. NNC/FGN felt that it should be the bounden duty of all right thinking Nagas to give refuge and help to Naga brethren who have crossed the Myanmar borders and are now in different parts of the Naga inhabited areas in search of sanctuary ever since the military junta seized power through a coup on February 1, 2021.
