Dimapur, August 15 (EMN): In an effort to aid the Dimapur traffic police combating the ever increasing traffic problems in the city, Nagaland Motorcycle Club (NMC) today carried out an ‘Independence Day rally’ starting from City Tower and handed over street signs as part of its charity initiatives to the officer in charge of Traffic Zone- I, LM Patton, at Traffic Control Station, behind the railway station.
Patton has appreciated the noble work undertaken by NMC. With the collapsing of bridges following the recent floods in Dimapur, Patton said the initiatives undertaken by NMC to make people aware of safe driving and donating the signboards on the occasion of 71st Independence Day was a welcome steps.
Among the few traffic officers, who spoke during the programme, opined that public were very quick to find faults in the officers on duty and share pictures on social media despite their fault in following the traffic rules. She also expressed sadness over the indifference shown by the public towards women officers and educated persons violating traffic rules, causing inconvenience to many by parking vehicles in places where it is not allowed or are meant for two-wheelers.
The members of NMC also shared their concern and suggestion with the traffic police. Later, the members along with the traffic police personals placed the road signs at different points in the city with high traffic.
