NLA expresses shock on demise of Bangdi Iheilung

The Nagalnd Legislative Assembly said it is shocked to hear the sad demise of Bangdi Iheilung, former minister, Nagaland on March 27. Late Bangdi Iheilung served in various capacities viz. General Secretary, Naga Students Federation 1973-74; Head Master, Private High School, Jalukie 1975-80; President, UDF Youth Wing, Peren Sub-Division 1974; Chairman, Div. Unit Peren 1976-79; General Secretary, Peren Sub Division(NNDP), 1960-80; and became Member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 1987; Subsequently he was appointed as Minister, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary and served in the capacity from 19.6.1990-1.4.1992.
According to a condolence message issued by NLA Speaker Chotisuh Sazo, Bangdi was a parliamentarian par excellence who has thorough knowledge of parliamentary practice and procedures which was indeed a boon for the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. His scintillating performance in the House was a reflection of the hard work he put in.
Throughout his public life he always upheld honesty, probity and transparency, humility and amiability. He has contributed immensely for the all-round development of the state of Nagaland keeping in view the welfare of the poor and downtrodden, the NLA message said. “He had upheld the highest values of personal and public integrity and was also endowed with self-reliant and has demonstrated courtesy and goodwill to all associated with him. In his death the state has lost a veteran leader in general and for the Zeliang tribe in particular. In this hour of gloom and grief I on behalf of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and on my own behalf convey our heartfelt condolences,It added.
