DIMAPUR, JULY 17: National Health Mission Employees Association of Nagaland (NEA-N), in its executive emergency meeting, resolved to go on a phase wise agitation in case all pending salaries are not released by July 22 by the Finance Department.
According to the Association, the phase wise agitation would commence with a mass casual leave on July 25 followed by total cease work from August 1. The Association threatened to resort to any means available to secure justice for all its members saying depriving the employees of their salaries is a blatant violation of human rights.
The Association alleged that despite several reminders from the Central government to release pending funds, the State Finance Department was yet to release funds amounting to more than 140 crores from last Financial year 15-16, which is severely impacting programme implementation in the state as well as leaving the employees without salaries for several months and in some vertical programmes more than 7 months.
The Association pointed out that it is not the first time the State Finance Department had failed to release salaries on time. It alleged that the employees faced the same problem every year, which was disheartening and demotivating as health care is a basic essential service for the general public.
Meanwhile, the Association has appealed to the all concerned citizens and associations/ unions of Nagaland to extend their support and co-operation and also expressed regret for inconveniences that might arise from to the proposed agitation.
