NFR collects INR 35.71 cr. as fine from ticketless travellers
Dimapur, Aug. 13 (EMN): The NF Railway in its endeavour to provide better services to bonafide rail users have been conducting intensive campaigns against ticketless and irregular travellers.
An update from the NFR issued on Aug. 11 informed that the ticket checking team under the supervision of senior commercial officers of NFR have been organising several ticket checking drives from January to July this year during which an amount of INR 35.71 crore were recovered.
Travelling without a proper ticket or beyond authorised distance may levy excess charge and fare.
‘In case a passenger fails or refuses to pay the same on demand, he shall be in default of payment and will be prosecuted under relevant sections of The Railways Act, 1989,’ the update informed.
NFR has appealed to the public to travel with proper and valid tickets and carry valid Identity cards in order to avoid inconvenience.
