Dimapur, Nov. 12 (EMN): With people from diverse culture, caste and religion co-existing in peace and harmony, advisor of Power, H Tovihoto Ayemi, described Netaji Colony as a ‘mini India,’ which according to him embodies a true essence of secularism.

Tovihoto stated this during the silver jubilee celebration of Netaji Colony held at Youth Hostel premises on November 12. Recalling the period when the Dimapur Railway station was first inaugurated in 1903 and people started coming to Dimapur, Ayemi stated that it was only during the 1940’s that people started to occupy the surrounding area of the railway station and form Netaji colony. Ayemi stated that it was only in 1997 that the colony was recognised.

The advisor, while remarking that true integrity takes people forward, called upon the residents to stay united saying that there is strength in unity. He also urged the residents to reaffirm their unity and essence of secularism in order to move forward.

Ayemi reminded the residents of Netaji Colony that on the occasion of its 25th jubilee celebration, it was indispensable on their part to pay respect, honour and acknowledge the pioneers who had sacrificed their time and stood committed in making the colony what it is now; to forgive and forget one another if there was any among themselves; and to take care of one another, love one another and spread peace to others in the name of jubilee. He stated that those values should be applied for a progressive society.

On the occasion, he called upon the residents to make Netaji Colony a model colony for others to emulate. He also assured his assistance towards the Colony.

In conclusion, he persuaded the public to get involved in politics so that there is feedback from them.

“If there is no public participation and involvement, we don’t get to see much change. So get involved in government activities and through the cooperation of the public, we hope that Nagaland will go ahead,” he asserted.
