Kohima, Nov. 26 (EMN): Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Central Youth Organisation (CYO) on Saturday morning conducted a social work-cum-cleanliness drive in Kohima town on the theme “Cleanliness our responsibility.”

Prior to the launch event, a brief programme was held at Old MLA Junction, wherein the advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, addressed the participants. In his address, Dr. Kire opined that Nagas don’t generally emulate the good but the bad. He, however, called for efforts from all sections of the society to keep the environment clean as a collective responsibility.

He also informed that NDPP of 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency would be conducting more cleanliness drive and extended invitation to like-minded persons to come forward and participate in such events.

President of NDPP CYO, Imchatoba Imchem, informed that cleanliness drive was an annual event and would continue to so even in the days to come. He stated that although a political, the youth body would continue to undertake such activities as part of its social responsibility.

He also informed that the youth involving hundreds of party volunteers would put up hoardings with message for cleanliness in various strategic locations.

The programme was chaired by Lhouvi Punyü, working president, while a prayer was offered by Mhao Kikon, vice president.
