Dimapur, July 15 (EMN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) on Thursday extended its appreciation to the members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) for formation of the Parliamentary Committee and Core Committee on Naga Political Issue and endorsed the resolutions passed at its recent maiden meeting.

In a press communiqué, the party informed that an entourage led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had a meeting with the Central leadership and the BJP high command in New Delhi from June 28 to July 2.

While extending its appreciation to the leaders at the Centre for the positive outcome of the meeting, the NDPP informed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had ‘assured the NDPP delegation that the PDA coalition will complete the present term under Rio’s leadership with full honour and dignity and that the PDA coalition would continue even beyond the present term’.

The NDPP on its part declared its commitment to uphold the spirit of the PDA coalition and not to “deviate from the understanding and spirit of the alliance which is based on trust and common understanding”.

The party went on to appreciate the seriousness shown by the Home Minister on the Naga political issue, which it said eventually resulted in the formation of Parliamentary Committee and the Core Committee on Naga Political Issue, which comprised of all the MLAs and two members of Parliament from the state.
