Dimapur, Aug. 17 (EMN): The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has released a second edition of family diary edited by Rev. Khrotso Mero, CBCC executive secretary, in the presence of pastors and well wishers on August 17. The purpose of the family diary 2022 edition was to encourage the families to develop family prayer and devotion.

Chairing the release of diary event, NBCC youth secretary, N Suhuto Chishi stated that parents often wondered where they could get the extra time in their busy schedules to include time to pray together as family. He added that the daily busy schedule made them neglect the family altar, which inadvertently effected the spiritual growth and formation of family members at home.

He, however, acknowledged that altar is where they encounter God and connect with him to a deeper level.

Also speaking on the occasion, NBCC general secretary, Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, has explained on the need for family prayer time and devotion. He stated that the family diary would aid the homes come closer to God.

“In a time when our faith is threatened and minorities are pushed to the periphery in the society by the majority, we can return to our family to do deep soul searching to encourage each other. This soul searching journey must begin at home. Family altar must become a practice to pray and bless each other,” Rev. Keyho said.

He stated that the minority communities in India, especially the Christians are facing discrimination from the majority despite being the world largest democracy with secular texture.

“Our diversity was once viewed as our strength. We say, unity in diversity is our pillar. But, brotherhood in our diversity is disappearing like a melt ice by the day,” Rev. Keyho added.

While describing India a secular country where everyone enjoyed the liberty of practicing their faith in the manner which fits best and binds together, he, however, lamented that the flavor was slowly disappearing where the majority is trying to eliminate the minorities in every sense of the word. He added that the religious freedom was monitored with suspicion and threatened with persecution, false accusation and ill constructed testimony by the majority.

He expressed concern over the insecurity created by the present situation, the latest of which was the Hindu Rashtra proposed by the Hindu scholars and seers to snatch away the basic fundamental rights of voting from the minorities.

“Such a move is desperate and it will only disintegrate the nation. A nation can never be unified by or with elimination policy of hatred,” Rev. Key stated.

“All these and others which are happening around us is a call to deepened our faith in God and seek refuge in him,” Rev. Keyho said.

Chishi summed up by saying, “If we want our family knitted together in the bond of love, to grow in the word of God, there is no other alternative than family altar. Therefore, family diary is a reminder and a giant step to point us to family worship and deeply rooted in the word of God as family.”
