Kohima, May 9 (EMN): State College of Teachers Education (SCTE) Kohima emerged as the winner of the National Anthem choral competition held at RCEMPA, Phezhu Jotsoma in Kohima on Monday.

The event was organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland in commemoration of the 161st Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore and the 75th year of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The winner received a citation and a cash award of INR 50,000.

While College of Arts and Technology Nerhe- Phezha Kohima won second position and pocketed INR 35,000 and a citation; Kohima College stood third and fetched INR 25,000 and a citation.

A total of ten institutions from Kohima participated in the event. The institutions include: Sazolie College, Sazolie College of Teachers Education, Kohima College Kohima, RBPSK, Don Bosco College Kohima, JNV Kohima, College of Arts and Technology Nereh- Phezha Kohima, State College of Teachers Education, Hindi RBPS Keziekie Kohima and Kohima Science College.

Meanwhile, Officer on Special Duty to BJP President and Minister of Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along– Akum O Tzudir — graced the occasion as chief guest and conveyed the president’s message.

The speaker urged the gathering to be a responsible citizen of the great nation India and to contribute towards the nation’s building.

Prizes were handed over to the winners by Director General of Prison, HG and CD, Rupin Sharma; Advisor TaFMA, Theja Meru and Col. Umesh Sati, Commandant of 1st Assam Rifles (AR) Kohima.
