Dimapur, June 7 (EMN): Nagaland Assembly Secretariat Staff Association (NASSA) has extended its democratic agitation against the appointment of Dr. PJ Antony to the post of principal secretary for three more days, ie, from June 8 to the 10th.

This was decided in a meeting along with the Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Tuesday. NASSA stated that the manner of agitation will remain the same — pen down strike and wearing black badges — during the days of agitation.

Meanwhile, Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) extended solidarity to NASSA and appealed to the state government to examine the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Service Rules Amendment notification dated May 18, 2022 and nullify the appointment of Dr. PJ Anthony.

ENSF in a statement on Tuesday said that the Federation had deliberated at length the notification and condemned the “arbitrary action” of the commissioner and secretary for Revision/Amendments of Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat (Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules 1999.

It stated that the Cadre Review Committee/Service Rules Amendment Committee, which was constituted on Oct. 3, 2020, and re-notified on March 24, ‘was due to submit on or before June 30, 2022’.

However, the Service Rules Amendment notification was approved on May 18, 2022 prior to the submission by the committee.

‘The government should not maintain neutrality in meeting the justification in the common interest, hence, any matter based on favoritism shouldn’t be entertained at any level to ensure future complications,’ it added.
