Kohima, Jan. 7 (EMN):
In view of the rising Covid-19 cases across the country, including Nagaland, the state government on Friday decided to impose night curfew and implement more restrictions on social gatherings. However, a lockdown is unlikely for the time-being.

While lockdown is “too early” for now, strict measures will be imposed, for which new standard operating procedure (SOP) will be issued very soon, an official source told this newspaper on Friday.

The decision was taken after the High Powered Committee/cabinet meeting at Chumoukedima on Friday, a day after the state recorded highest single-day fresh cases (31) this year, it was informed.

The meeting further laid emphasis on achieving 100% vaccination in a time-bound manner, sources added.

Nagaland recorded a single-day rise of eight Covid-19 cases on Friday, taking the tally to 32, 255, while the active caseload declined to 81 and the death toll remained unchanged at 687 with no fresh fatalities.

The state’s cumulative recoveries have increased to 30,390 following recuperation of eight patients from Dimapur in the last 24 hours.
