Dimapur, Feb. 19 (EMN): Nagaland has been witnessing a decline in Covid-19 cases for the past three weeks, registering 223 infections last week ending Feb. 18 compared to 358 in the previous week, according to Health department’s weekly bulletin.
The state’s weekly sample positivity rate declined to 4.5% from 6.5% in the previous week and the deaths decreased to three from 13 during the same period, it added.
Wokha is the lone district to report a weekly sample positivity rate of more than 10% and the number of new hospitalisation across the state during the week was 11.
The update went on to inform that “15.22 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered, including 67,363 doses in children between 15-18 years of age. A data entry error from last week for doses between 15-18 year old children stands corrected”.
The department also advised the public to avoid unnecessary medications like antibiotics unless indicated by a registered medical practitioner.
“Antibiotics have no role in viral infections. Drugs like Ivermectin are no longer recommended,” it stated. “You can have medicines for fever (paracetamol) and cough (over the counter medications),” it added.
