Nagaland: SBI to organise Grahak Mela

Dimapur, Sep. 27: In pursuance to the directive from the department of finance, Government of India, State Bank of India (SBI) has announced that it will hold the first phase Grahak Mela (consumers meet) in the state on October 3 and 5.

The mela in Kohima would be held at the Angami Women’s conference hall on October 3 and in Dimapur at Hotel Saramati on October 5. The objective of organising the Grahak Mela is to provide easy credit access to customers.

Speaking to media persons on Friday, SBI Assistant General manager of Regional Business Office, Naga Shopping Arcade, Paogin Haokip, said that the mela would be organised in 240 identified districts of the country. In the Nagaland context, he stated that the same would be held in Kohima and Dimapur respectively. He added that SBI, as convenor bank, would take the lead along with other financial institutions. He informed that local MLAs, MPs, and district administration would be invited on the occasion and subsequently give away the loan sanctioned letters. The sanctioned loans would include retails, SME, Agri., education, car and housing.

The government has planned to organise the second phase from October 21 to 25. The bank has anticipated to achieve a minimum target of 1000 customers during the mela.
