Dimapur, July 6 (EMN): With Covid-19 cases and number of patients requiring hospitalisation declining over the last few weeks, the government of Nagaland has revoked its directive to private hospitals in the state to reserve 50% beds for Covid patients.

In an order issued on Tuesday, the state government stated that the matter was discussed in the state level Covid War Room and “it was felt that the number of beds available in government hospitals and dedicated Covid hospitals is sufficient to meet the requirements at present for treatment of Covid-19 patients”.

“Keeping this in view, the mandatory reservation of beds in the private hospitals may not be required,” it stated, adding that the direction to reserve 50% of the bed capacity available with the private hospitals in state stands revoked till further orders.

It may be mentioned that amid steep rise in Covid cases, the state government had on May 5 directed all private hospitals to reserve at least 50% of beds capacity of the normal wards and the ICU for treatment of Covid patients.
