Dimapur, Aug. 26 (EMN): Under pressure from Delhi authorities, the state’s Public Works Department (PWD) is racing against time to complete the construction of Nagaland Guest House at Dwarka in New Delhi—or at least some sections of it.

According to a press release from the press secretary of Minister for PWD (Housing and Mechanical) Tongpang Ozukum, the minister along with department officials had inspected the ongoing constructions on August 24.

It stated that the Delhi Jal Board had, on May 8, asked the department to pay INR 1,69,03,668 as ‘infrastructure charges for water and sewage connection’ before September 8.

For want of fund, the department has not been able to make the payment till date, it informed. Failure to pay the bill within the stipulated period would render ‘the target for occupying type I and II building of Nagaland Guest House at Dwarka’ a distant dream once again, it stated.

Therefore, during the inspection, Ozukum and his team interacted with representatives of M/S Ansari & Co., the firm constructing ‘Dwarka phase-1 type I, II, IV and V.’ The firm has agreed to complete type I and II buildings by September, it informed.

Also, M/S Gupta Brothers (India), who is overlooking the construction of Dwarka phase-2 type-III has also agreed to complete eight items (electrical sub-station, main LT panel, external fire fighting, external electrical cabling, external lighting, sewage disposal, storm water drain and campus development) within 105 days after the undertaking.

“Completion of these eight items is necessitated in order to get the permission from Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for partial occupation of type I and II buildings right after completion,” it informed.

Considering the need to complete the ongoing project, “the department is planning to take over partially for type I, II and II A for staff quarters and rental building at Dwarka within this financial year, provided the DDA agrees to the departments’ proposal,” it informed.
