Dimapur, Oct.1 (EMN): The Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) has extended solidarity and support to the All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers’ Group (ANATG)-2015 batch in their demand for regularisation of services of its 1,166 members.

In a press statement, the Congress youth wing expressed dismay over non regularisation of services and keeping the 2017 suitability test results pending, which it said had compelled the teachers to stage a sit-in and hunger strike since September 26.

It opined that measures should be taken up immediately to help regularise the services of the aggrieved 1,166 adhoc teachers as the department had said that they were not illegal appointees.

The NPYC also said that the ongoing agitation is hampering thousands of students across the state, with the final examinations for the academic year drawing closer.

“While the government of the day and the department has been citing reasons of standing Court order for their inability to regularise the services of adhoc teachers, it is an open secret that many departments have been regularising the services of their adhoc employees,” read the statement.

Meanwhile, the NPYC lauded the dialogue held between the officials of ANATG and department of School Education (DoSE), which has resulted in the chief secretary deciding to form a High Powered Committee (HPC) to look into the matter, while expressing skepticism over the one year period given to the committee to study the case.

The Congress youth wing went on to request the state government and the DoSE to urgently resolve the matter so that the aggrieved teachers can go back to the respective places of posting and resume the learning process.
