Nagaland: Peren observes ‘World Suicide Prevention Day’

Dimapur, Sep. 10 (EMN): Peren District Mental Health Programme (DMHP) observed the ‘World Suicide Prevention Day’ on September 9 at Government Higher Secondary School in Peren town on the theme “Creating hope through action.”

An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Peren, stated that the school’s vice principal, Thejangnauo Leruo, has exhorted the students on the significance of the day. She also highlighted on the statistics of suicide in Nagaland.

Vizo, clinical psychologist of DMHP, Peren, shared a short note on suicide prevention and awareness. She stated that the aim of observing ‘World Suicide Prevention Day’ was to focus on the ways and measures to prevent suicide and create awareness about mental health. She further urged each person to reach out to people and create a safe environment.

Meanwhile, DMHP, Peren, has thanked the school authority and the staff for allowing them to organise the programme.

Report stated that a total 150 students participated in the formal session, while 30 students participated in the drawing competition.

In the drawing competition, Rokoui Terhuja secured the first position, while Ibuibe Chamlak and Pungbaliu secured the second and third positions respectively. The winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates.
