Wokha, Feb. 18 (EMN): The deputy chief minister, Y Patton, inaugurated an upgraded Wokha town to N Longidang road under Niro range and black topped Yimkhum village circular road under Englan ranger on February 18.

Speaking on two different occasions, Patton stated that road development is for every individual to keep connected and convenience of the people. During the inauguration of N Longidang (Niro Range) road, Patton stated that the road would now become a lifeline road for the people of Niro range and even neighboring district Zunheboto after the inauguration of a bridge, which was expected to complete within a month or two. He added that the bridge construction, which is nearing completion connecting Old Shena and Longididang would become a business and a commercial road.

Assuring to bring more development, Patton has sought the public cooperation and support towards his leadership. He also called upon the people to approach him with their grievances and sort out in the larger interests of the public.

Meanwhile, Patton has expressed gratitude to the department of PWD (R&B) and contractors for the timely completion of two major roads in Wokha district.

The road project for N Longidang in Niro range was constructed under NESIDS, ministry of Doner, government of India, while the Yikhum village circular road black topping project was constructed under LADP iconic programme during 2021-2022.

Presenting the technical report, Mhathung Kikon, EE of PWD (R&B) Wokha division, informed that defect liability would be taken care of by the contractor for three years. He, however, stated damage to road due to natural calamities would not be under the purview.

In this regard, he reminded the people of N Longidang to constantly check the drainage for the effective lifespan of the road. He urged the public to keep the road and drainage free from blockage stating that the department would not be accountable under defect liability.

The dedication of N Longidang (Niro range) was done by Rev. L Renathung Yanthan, pastor of Niroyo Baptist Church, while Kahuli Sema, chief engineer of PWD (R&B), chaired the programme. The dedication of Yikhum village circular road was done by Zanben Kithan, pastor of Yikhum village.
