Dimapur, Jan. 14 (EMN): Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland Y Patton, who is also in-charge of Home and PWD (Road and Bridges), on Friday called upon the residents of Notun Bosti Council Dimapur (NBCD) to maintain peace and unity for all round development and set an example for others to emulate.

Patton stated this while inaugurating the newly constructed gate of Notun Bosti Council in Dimapur.

He stated that Notun Bosti Council is one of the oldest residential areas established in Dimapur during the early 1960s.

He appreciated the sense of belongingness and brotherhood espoused by the residents in all spheres as well as their contributions towards the development of Dimapur city.

Patton also lauded Notun Bosti for producing many distinguished personalities in the field of administration as well as in promoting cleanliness. He has attributed the success to unity, cooperation and oneness prevailing among the residents.

While reminding that a largely populated colony called for corresponding responsibilities, Patton urged the council members to remain vigilant against sporadic anti-social activities within its jurisdiction and also assist the district administration in maintaining overall peaceful atmosphere in Dimapur.

Responding to an appeal made by the council, Patton also assured his assistance to set up a sub-health centre in the colony. In this regard, he urged the council members to pursue their demand with all commitment.

Also speaking on the occasion, MLA Moatoshi described the significance of a gate by referring to the Bible. According to him, a gate signified bonding among the members as well as rule of law.

In his welcome addresse, the colony chairman, Imkongukshi Imchen informed that the colony comprised of Ao, Lotha, Angami, Zeliang and Sumi tribes settled in five khels. He also informed that Notun Bosti Council has over 7000 population with more than 2700 households.

Convenor of welcome gate construction committee, Kikhevi Yepthomi, presented the report.
