Nagaland: NFHRCC proposes to call meeting on June 17

Dimapur, June 10 (EMN): Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has resolved to have a sitting with all the concerned divisional executive engineers and SDO of PWD (R&B) along with the respective construction firms with due permission from the chief engineer of PWD (R&B) on June 17 in order to ascertain clear picture of the ongoing motorable road construction.

The resolution to this effect was taken during its meeting held on June 8. The meeting was convened to deliberate on the ongoing motorable foothill road construction and identify some hiccups in some sectors.

An update from the committee stated that it has re-affirmed to appeal to the competent authority for judicious utilisation of the remaining amount of INR 3 crore out of the INR 20 crore for the foothills road constructions.

The committee has decided to write a letter to the respective villages/ areas for an amicable settlement where some overlapping of works were detected. The committee also identified some vital points with regards to additional constructions of bridges/ culverts in certain sectors particularity between Niuland-Huvekhu–Old Ralan stretch and also to immediately repair the hanging bridge over Dikhu river in Naganimora sector.

The committee also appealed to the state government and the department of PWD (R&B) to do the needful on the pathetic road conditions between Ahthibung and Khelma in Peren district.

Meanwhile, the committee has appealed to all the contractors dealing with logging and stone business not to ply heavy vehicles extensively as it could damage the newly constructed road. The village authorities, in which the foothill road falls, are requested to maintain vigil in their respective areas.

On the Doyang Bridge inauguration, the committee expected better coordination from the concerned department and the construction firm. The committee further requested the respective tribal hohos, who are yet to give their financial contributions for exigency fund, to comply as sought to them earlier.
