Nagaland: Newly elected legislator Chuba Chang takes oath of office

Chang won the bye-election uncontested as he was the lone person to file nomination paper

Dimapur, April 8 (EMN): Newly elected legislator, H Chuba Chang, who won the bye-election to 51-Noksen Assembly Constituency, was sworn in as a member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) at a ceremony on Thursday.

NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer administered the oath of office to Chang at his office chamber in the Assembly Secretariat, Kohima, on Wednesday morning, informed a press release from Commissioner and Secretary Dr. PJ Anthony.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Advisor for Technical Education and Elections, Medo Yhokha; few senior leaders of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP); and family members of the newly-elected legislator.

The Returning Officer of 51-Noksen Assembly Constituency had earlier declared that Chang of NDPP and the consensus candidate of People’s Democratic Alliance had won the bye-poll uncontested as he was the lone person to file nomination paper to fight the election.
