Nagaland: NCC annual camp underway in Dimapur

Dimapur, July 5 (EMN):  A ten-day Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-36) of the Nagaland Girls Battalion NCC under the aegis of NCC Group HQ, Kohima, got underway at Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, on July 3. A total of 405 NCC girls and 31 boy cadets from all districts of Nagaland along with eight associated NCC officers are attending the camp.

Brig. SS Dhankhar, Group Commander of NCC Group HQ, Kohima, visited the camp on July 5 and addressed the cadets. He thanked the parents for giving their children the unique opportunity. Mentioning the cadets that they are being trained by a professional team lead by the CO 1 Nagaland Girls Bn NCC coupled with tough schedule ahead, he urged upon the cadets to avail the opportunity to develop their character and personality which in turn would substantially arm them do well in all walks of life.

While appreciating the high calibre of the cadets in drill, firing, sports, he urged upon them to take up career in the state and central uniformed forces. He also gave a detailed advisory on healthcare and directed the camp commander and staff to pay special attention to the well being of the cadets. He was highly appreciative of the excellent infrastructure existing in Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School and the efforts the institute has taken to make the camp a success.

Col. Avinash Pitre, camp commandant, stated that he and his team of officers and staff would make all-out endeavour to develop the character, qualities of leadership, comradeship, discipline, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship, ideals of selfless service and all round development of cadet’s personality especially in confidence, public speaking and time management. He also assured imparting intensive training on both military as well as non-military subjects to the cadets.

He further stated that various guest speakers from different professions and disciplines have been invited to give information and interact with the cadets in order to give them insight into various career options.
