Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Electronics and Information Technology of India, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, on Monday, said Nagaland is lagging behind  in entrepreneurship as the state has to reach a certain critical mass in terms of digital economy and skilling capabilities, which takes time, adding that it also relies on motivation and investments.

Addressing the media at BJP office, Dimapur, Chandrasekhar stated that Nagaland is in the threshold of leaving behind decades of despair and moving into an era of opportunity, development even in the remotest district and villages. “This determination is not an empty claim because this is what India has seen and experienced in the last nine years”, he said.

When asked if political solution of Nagaland is a hindrance for entrepreneurs, the minister stated that does not want to link the two directly but opined that that “law and order, and peace has a direct co-relation to investment; and investments have direct co-relation to job and self employment and that in turn has a direct co-relation to the economic growth.”

He stated that many states in India today that were deficit states are now fast growing economies due to partnership with the Central government.

He stressed that the 2023 election in the state is important because it represents a continuity of the last five-year progress. He cited that during the election, many parties visit the state and make fake promises but compared to 2014, India has become the fastest growing economy in the world because “Prime Minister and BJP have worked hard to transform the entire landscape for the young Indian.”

“Many political parties will come and make tall claims and distract voters, but the next five year is the year of BJP that will represent a huge opportunity for the young people of Nagaland as well as the people of India,” he stated.

He also reiterated about  the PM’s announcement of INR 8000 crore for skilling , and also that 80000-90000 youths will be skilled every year in industry-ready and future-ready skills that will provide them not just employment but self employment opportunities.

He also stated that a digital India start up hub which is only in Kohima today will be built in every district of Nagaland, and that will be an innovation and incubation hub for young Nagas who want to create a start-up.

Further, he also mentioned that in the Union Budget, it was announced that there will be many nursing colleges opened in the next five years and among those, at least two nursing colleges will be opened in Nagaland.
