Dimapur, Oct. 14 (EMN): The National Oral Health Programme (NOHP), Phek, conducted a one-day orientation on oral health and managing dental emergencies for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) and Community Health Officers (CHO) under Phek Sadar on October 14 at Dr. Wethselo T Mero Memorial Hall, District Hospital, Phek.

An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Phek, stated that Dr. Nichukholie Vupru, senior dental surgeon at District Hospital, Phek, and resource person, imparted on the importance of oral health and its influence on other parts of the body for overall health. It stated that Dr. Vupru also spoke on basic oral healthcare methods and healthy food habits as well as awareness on prevention of common oral health problems.

Besides stressing on managing of dental emergencies at the grassroots by the health workers, the resource person has emphasised on their vital role in providing the first level services of early detection, screening and management of common dental diseases including dental emergencies.
