Dimapur, March 3 (EMN): As Nagaland has began Covid-19 vaccination for senior citizens and those with comorbidities along with the rest of the country, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom took his first dose of Covishield at District Hospital Dimapur on Wednesday.

Minister for Soil and Water Conservation, Geology and Mining, V Kashiho Sangtam; Advisor for Urban Development Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire; and Rev. Dr. Wati Aier too were inoculated at the District Hospital on the same day.

Phom appealed to all the people of the state, who are eligible for the vaccination, to take the vaccine without any hesitation. He added that he would come back to take the second dose after 28 days.

Aier, who is 73 years old, said that he was ‘fortunate’ to be vaccinated.

“Vaccination is necessary and so I encourage everyone especially the elderly people to come and get vaccination,” he said, while urging the people not to believe in ‘conspiracies and theories going around’ but have faith in God and use their reason properly.

Dr. Kire, who is turning 70 this year, urged the people to come forward and avail the vaccine.

“We are doing this so that everyone will remain well and I appeal everyone eligible to come forward and get vaccinated so that we may live many more years together,” he said.

Sangtam also encouraged the citizens to be ‘brave enough to take the vaccine.
