Nagaland Governor visits Kiphire, tells officials to take pleasure in discharging their duties

Dimapur, Feb. 9 (EMN): Nagaland Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi called upon the heads of offices in Kiphire district to ‘take pleasure in discharging their duties and politely deal with people who come to their table with good aspiration’.

Mukhi, who arrived in Kiphire on Wednesday on a 2-day tour of the district, said this at a meeting with the heads of offices in the DC Conference hall, Kiphire, informed an update from DPRO Kiphire.

He told the gathering that he decided to visit Kiphire first among all the districts in the state as it’s an ‘Aspirational district’.

“With the resources available in our hands, if our officers decide that we have to come up, nobody can stop us and the district to come up to the top,” the governor said.

“To have mental satisfaction, do justice to your job,” he added.

Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire, T Wati Aier informed that the district is inhabited by Sangtam, Yimkhiung, Tikhir and Eastern Sumi tribes with a population of about 70,644 after the bifurcation of Shamator as a new district.

He stated that there is lot of scope to improve the lives of common people through eco tourism as the district has good tourist spots like mountains, rivers and wildlife sanctuaries. Apart from famous tourist spots, there are potentialities to promote adventure tourism in rural areas like rock climbing, mountain biking, paragliding, hiking, river rafting etc., he added.

The DC went on to say that inflow of visitors from India and foreign countries will drastically increase if tourist destinations in the state are exposed.

Meanwhile, District Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, EE (PHED), District Agri Officer, Sericulture Department and District Administration have a presentation on government activities in the Aspirational district.
