Nagaland gets more than INR 35 crore under PM-KISAN

Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 8th  instalment of financial benefit of INR 2,06,67,75,66,000 (more than INR 20,000 crore) to 9,50,67,601 (9.5 crore) beneficiaries farmers  across the country under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme via video conferencing on Friday.

Nagaland’s share from the 8th instalment of PM-KISAN is INR 35,11,62,000 (INR 35.11 crore) and a total of 1,74,564 farmers will benefitted from it, updated Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on Friday.

The prime minister also interacted with farmer beneficiaries during the event. Union Agriculture Minister was also present on the occasion. During the event Modi also informed that for the first time, the farmers of West Bengal would be getting the benefit of this scheme.

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, INR 6,000 is provided to eligible beneficiary farmers per year, payable in three instalments of INR 2,000 each every four months and the amount is directly transferred to the bank accounts of beneficiaries.

During the video conferencing, Modi informed that “so far, about 58,000 crore of wheat procurement has reached the farmers’ account directly”. He also lauded the efforts of the farmers who have made record produce in food grains and horticulture amidst the difficulties during this pandemic.

He stated that Central government and all the State governments together, are making continuous efforts to enable more and more countrymen to get vaccinated at a rapid pace. He said so far, around 18 crore vaccine doses have been given across the country and free vaccination is being done in government hospitals across the country. He urged everyone to register for the vaccine when their turn comes and ensure Covid-appropriate behaviour at all times. He added that this vaccine is an important means of protection against corona and will reduce the risk of serious illness.
