Nagaland Foothill Road Co-ordination Committee calls for transparency in Foothill Road project
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Foothill Road Co-ordination Committee (NFHRCC) on Wednesday outlined key recommendations for the selection of contractors and distribution of work for the ongoing 2-lane Foothill Road construction project.
In a memorandum to the Chief Engineer of PWD (Roads and Bridges), the committee stressed the need for stringent criteria in selecting qualified and registered contractors. To promote and encourage local Naga contractors, the committee recommended allocating work in segments of 10-15 kilometers to each qualified contractor.
It also emphasised that no contractor should be awarded work in multiple locations or for bids significantly below the prescribed Schedule of Rates (SOR), or at the most up to 5%.
To ensure smooth and timely execution of the project, the NFHRCC proposed a tripartite agreement between the department, contractors, and the committee itself.
Further, the NFHRCC called for strict adherence to the approved CE Testing Co. Ltd. alignments in each division and equitable distribution of funds based on the technical Detailed Project Report (DPR).
