Dimapur, Feb. 8 (EMN): The government of Nagaland has declared the entire state a drought state of moderate nature in view of the distress faced by the farmers due to poor crop yield caused by rainfall deficiency.

The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) stated that it was found out through field verification and reports from the from the deputy commissioners and chairmen of district disaster management authorities that rainfall deficiency had led to poor harvest in 2021 in almost all the farming areas in the state.

“Based on the scanty deficit and less than normal rainfall that has been observed from March to November 2021, the declaration of drought would come into effect from 15th September, 2021, and would continue to be in effect for 6 months, till further order,” read the update from DIPR.
