Nagaland: Candidates of ULB elections appeal to govt. for expenditure recovery
Dimapur, March 7 (EMN): Candidates of the Urban Local Body (ULB) elections 2017 to the Town Council of Pungro Town has appealed to the state government ‘to recover the expenditure which were outlaid during the election process, if the government declared their cast vote as null and void.’
An update on Monday stated that the candidates also opposed the government’s decision on the induction of an advisory board to town councils. ‘In 2017, Nagaland witnessed violent protests against the ULB elections, which provided the contentious issue of 33% reservation for women.
Thus the votes cast of the intended candidates of Pungro Town Council were still kept at ADC office Pungro town without counting,’ it read. It further requested the authority concerned to take ‘appropriate measures at the earliest time possible and fulfil the genuine demand of the candidates’.
