Nagaland announces more relaxations; classes for pre-primary to begin next month

Dimapur, Feb. 15 (EMN): The government of Nagaland on Tuesday announced further relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions, including permission to allow classroom learning for pre-primary classes from next month.

The Home department stated in an order that the High Powered Committee (HPC) on Covid-19 had decided to relax some activities throughout the state till February 28, after a review meeting with the members of state level war room and Health department on Tuesday.

According to the latest order, offline classes for students studying in pre-primary classes will be permitted from March 1, subject to 50% attendance and parental consent of the student concerned and adherence to Covid-19 appropriate behaviour.

The night curfew from 9 pm to 5 am in the state will also stand lifted from Wednesday, February 16.

It went on to informed that the requirement for carrying a negative Covid-19 test report for persons above 12 years of age, including those fully vaccinated, entering the state stands withdrawn.

The order stated that all kinds of public gatherings (both indoors and outdoors) like social, cultural, sports, political, religious etc. outside the containment zones will be allowed 100% capacity attendance, subject to all the participants being asymptomatic, fully vaccinated.

Malls, shopping complexes, restaurants, cinema halls, theatres, parks, places of entertainment and recreation areas are allowed to open 100% capacity.

“Bus service, Inter-District Bus Service/Taxi And other public transportation shall be allowed to operate beyond 50% and up to 100% capacity, subject to the drivers, attendants and passengers being asymptomatic and fully vaccinated against Covid-19, and if the aforesaid criteria is not fulfilled, then the driver(s)/attendant(s)/Passenger(s) should carry a Covid-19 negative test report taken through either RT-PCR/TrueNat or CBNAAT with the swab taken for testing not earlier than 72 hours from the date of travel, and further subject to adherence to Covid-19 appropriate behaviour and observance of all the relevant SOPs,” read the order.

It went on to state that violators of the order will be prosecuted against under the relevant sections of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, besides action under Section 188 of IPC and other legal provisions as applicable.
