Nagaland: Amigo’s FC lifts 7th Frolic Cup

Amigos FC lifts 7th Frolic Cup

Dimapur, April 2 (EMN): Amigo’s Football Club, the defending champion, defeated Kuki Youth Club Medziphema (KYCM) 4-2 to lift the 7th Frolic Cup in Medziphema on Saturday.

KYCM, the first champion of the cup in 2009, fought for midfield control and rapid counter attacks and was able to secure an early lead in the 26th minute through Lamsanggin, an update informed.

But the second half witnessed the resurgence of Amigo’s FC, who equalised in the 58th minute through Kekhrie. Amigos further extended their lead through Nyithong in the 70th and 80th minute. KYCM was able to reduce the goal difference in the 81st minute through a solo run in a narrow gap from Kakhevi.

But the win was sealed, when Sinlo of Amigos rattled the net of KYCM in the 85th minute.  

Earlier, Shiyeto Wotsa, gen. secy. of BJYM and guest of honour at the closing ceremony, shared his experience as a footballer in the state and stated, “football is one area where there is no Ism” and encouraged the players to set a good example.

The guest of honour also sponsored the individual prizes in memory of his late father-in-law, Yehmi Zhimo. Metsilhoukho Kuotsu, chairman of village council Medziphema was the chief patron of the final match.
