Dimapur, Nov. 5 (EMN): The ‘Department Recruited Aggrieved Nurses 2021’ has said that it will commence its democratic peaceful sit-in from November 9 with the government of Nagaland failing to address their plight despite serving a 7-day ultimatum on October 20, which ended by the end of the month.

The staff nurses, who were recruited during the COVID-19 pandemic, are demanding the state government to regularise their service and to release their pending salaries from July to October.

In a letter addressed to the chief secretary and officials of Health and Family Welfare department, the aggrieved nurses reminded that the Health department had in its notification dated 5th July 2020 mentioned that “50% of the post of Staff Nurse shall be filled through queue system and the remaining 50% through direct recruitment”.

Maintaining that they were appointed in order of merit after going through the recruitment process, the aggrieved nurses said that they should not be denied of their legitimate rights.

They added that they were left with no option but to stage a sit-in as the state government has not responded to their plight.

“The government will be held solely responsible if any untoward incidents occur during the time of our protest,” read the letter.
