Dimapur, Dec. 3 (EMN): Five student organisations, under the banner of Core Committee on Rationalisation of Reservation Policy, have opposed the 45% job reservation demand of the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF).

“The Angami, Ao, Sema, Lotha and Rengma Students’ Union resolved that we will outrightly (sic) object to the 45% reservation demand of the ENSF at our expense under any circumstances. Whereas, after a lapse of 43 years when reservation should be gradually decreased by now and much earlier, what can be more unreasonable is the demand for its increase or even such an assumption is preposterous. We see no possible progression of our people with such detrimental implementation,” stated a press release from the core committee on Thursday.

It further stated that the committee expects the state government to settle the matter with ‘rationale sensibility based on logical reasoning’.

“However, if the government were to succumb to such unreasonably absurd demands, we shall leave no stone unturned but to defend our society from such a self-defeating move by resorting to all forms of democratic protest,” it stated.
