Kohima, May 27 (EMN):
The Nagabazar Panchayat and Nagabazar Youth Organisation (NYO) have set up a temporary quarantine centre for the returnees entering Nagabazar colony in Kohima on May 27.

Speaking to Eastern Mirror, Kethosetuo Rutsa, NYO convenor of social security, informed that a government primary school has been converted into a quarantine centre and named as ‘Benevolence Home.’

He informed that those returnees, who are coming from government institution quarantine centres, would be required to observe confinement for another 14 days at the facility. Rutsa apprised that the centre could accommodate a total of eight persons at a time. It took about four days for the youth to set up all necessary arrangements while a fencing was also constructed around the centre.

There would be a counter for family members to place the food items for the inmates. The food should be packed in a disposable silver foil box which could be disposed off after use for which a pit has been dug.

Each inmate would be required to use a separate toilet. So far, four returnees from Tamil Nadu and Assam are confirmed to arrive at the colony. The inmates are to observe the quarantine period under the watchful eyes of the youth who would be monitoring round the clock behind the fencing.

The panchayat and the youth organisation have borne all the expenses for arranging the facility, while colony members have also come forward to donate to cater to the needs of the returnees.

The Nagabazar Panchayat, in a statement, informed that the main purpose of the facility was to segregate the returnees from mingling with their near and dear ones and the general public after their 14 days institutional quarantine at the government quarantine centres and to dispel fear psychosis among the residents.

The homecoming returnees of Nagabazar could spend the second phase observation of 14 days in this home to rejuvenate their tiring physical body and also renew their spiritual attachment with God from this specific serene place free from disturbances and activities, it stated.
