Dr. K. Hoshi, Phek Town

Article 1 of Naga Yehzabo as adopted by Naga National Council (NNC) defined that; “The territory of Nagaland shall comprise all the territories inhabited by the indigenous Nagas…”
Taxonomy like Nagas of India and Nagas of Burma (Myanmar) were cleverly coined by our enemy to divide us. In the perspective of sovereign Naga politics, Naga will be Naga in one Nagaland (not the state of Nagaland within Indian Union) or Nagalim. The Naga territories defined in Article 1 of the Yehzabo was an expanse of Naga land sandwiched between India and Myanmar. In the lexicon of sovereign Nagaland, there was no such thing as Nagas of India or Nagas of Myanmar. It is derogatory for Nagas to use such names now. It is derogatory for Nagas to use such names now. True patriots in national service don’t speak the language of the enemy like that.It is self-defeating to classify our own people on the basis of our place of domicile. NPGs are themselves partitioning Naga territory.Members of NPGs who have no clarity on Naga political history should not be allowed to write official public statements because what they write wrongly today may be used as a tool against Nagas by our enemy tomorrow. MIP of NPGs has become the platform to display arrogance, issue threats, tell lies and play self-righteous. That kind of publicity wing operates only in revolutionary organizations. Sovereign Naga politics is not a revolutionary movement. Publicity wing (Rali Wali) should write on philosophical aspects of Naga national politics, the principle and policies of national government(s). Act responsibly and none will spit venom against the NPGs. Your actions are unbecoming of nationalists and patriots. You threw the first stone.
In the past, Naga national politics was guided by philosophy. Now, NPG members are blinded by tax and nothing but tax. Naga political groups (NPG), as they are fondly called, are branding each other as Nagas of India and Nagas of Myanmar. What a way to say they are fighting for Naga sovereignty! NPG members of today surely have lost focus and direction. They are certainly losing sight of their goal. People claimed to be fighting for Naga sovereignty are themselves confused.
How can we expect clarity from others when national workers speak in so many unknown political tongues? Nagas of today, especially the NPGs should learn to speak in one voice on one thing only.
Something is grossly wrong with NPGs of present day. If public expressions of resentment by non-NPGs are any indication, NPGs should take measures for course correction before it is too late. The clock is ticking. Non-NPGs are becoming restive. Just a spark is needed. We don’t need a weather clock to forecast that NPGs and non-NPGs may clash sooner than later. The clash of the titans will spell doom for Nagas.
It is equally important for non-NPGs to exercise self-restraint. The sacred political institution should not become the punching bag. One may say all members of present day NPGs are same and use ‘bare all’ cannon. But the past sacrifices of true patriots deserve some respect.
When you attack the institution, you attack them too. We are what we are today because of their sacrifices for us.
NPGs of present day should retrospect and introspect because what many of their members are doing now embarrasses true patriots, both underground and over-ground. No NPG member should think that non-NPG members are totally ignorant about Naga national politics. Do not mock the intellect of non-NPG members. We know where you are leading us to.
