Dimapur, March 8 (EMN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has expressed concern over the unrest in Myanmar ever since the military junta took over the democratically elected government in a coup earlier last month.

In a press communiqué issued on Monday, the NPF said it is unfortunate that many innocent lives have been lost in the course of protest against the military rule.

“The NPF as a political party believes in democratic values either in the form of expression of opinion or peaceful protest against the tyrannical governance. The party strongly feels that in any civilised world, the freedom of expression and peaceful protest should not be encountered with brute force,” read the statement.

The party also ‘extended its solidarity with the Nagas living in Myanmar and assured its fullest support in their struggle for democracy and just peace’.

It went on to express hope that good sense prevails among the military junta leadership and peaceful atmosphere reign without losing any more innocent life.
