Dimapur, April 8 (EMN): Peer team of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) visited Fazl Ali College in Mokokchung for the 3rd cycle of national assessment and accreditation on April 5 and 6.

The peer team was led by its chairman Dr. Neel Mani Prasad Verma, former vice chancellor of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar (Central) University; member coordinator Dr. Nesy Daniel, former dean of Arts Faculty of Arts and HoD of Philosophy at University of Kerala; and member Dr. Maharudra Kekare, former principal of SS & LS Patkar College, Maharashtra.

An update from the college stated that the activities on day-one included presentations from the college principal, IQAC coordinator and HoD of 16 academic departments. The team also visited all the facilities of the college such as laboratories, department offices, computer centre, health sub-centre, NSS, NCC, language translation lab, resource outlet, indigenous skill learning centre (Ketsangriju), sports facilities, ramps, and many others. It was followed by a meeting.

The first day culminated with a cultural programme presented by the students.

The activities on day-two included onsite inspection to hostels and other facilities, plantation of tree saplings and report writing.

The exit meeting was conducted by the college principal, Dr. Temjenwapang, while the peer team chairman, Dr. Verma spoke on general observation. Dr. Verma remarked that the college has huge potential to become an autonomous college or a university. He added that there was no visibility of the state government’s participation in the development of the college.

Observing that 19 faculty were on fixed appointment, he has termed it alarming as it would have a negative impact on quality education.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Lanurenla, IQAC coordinator.
