Kohima, Dec. 20 (EMN): A four-day platinum jubilee celebration of Merama Youth Organisation (MYO) got underway in Phesama village on Tuesday with Neibalie Rio, special officer to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, as special guest of the inaugural programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Neibalie reminded chances of getting government jobs are low as it has reached a saturation point. He, however, apprised that Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) has been constituted to maintain transparency, wherein any government job aspirant would be required to undergo NSSB exams even for a grade – III post.

He affirmed that the introduction of NSSB could pose a “problem” for politicians but expressed positivity that the same has been initiated for the welfare of the future generations.

Besides pension and medical benefits, Neibalie said many tend to look for government jobs as “they expect to get salary even without attending office.”

However, he reminded that biometric devices would soon be installed in government offices for strict attendance, the use of which had been removed during the COVID- 19 pandemic.

He also advised the youth to look for job beyond government service stating that different departments of the state government have introduced various training and skilling certificate courses.

Visede Kar, pastor of BRC Phesama, said a prayer for the jubilee monolith while traditional blessing was said by Vipusa Zashümo.

Speeches were also delivered by Razouvi Chütso, chairman of Merama Khel Council, and Rüüsano Tepa, on behalf of Tuopfütuoü.

‘Helium’and ‘Mera Khriesarüü Geizo’ were performed by Merama Youth Organisation, while Merama Women Society presented a folk song.

Thepfüsa Dominic Zashümo, catechist of St. Paul Catholic Church, Phesama, pronounced the benediction and blessings for the jubilee feast.

Highlights of the afternoon events included display of traditional games such as tug of war, war cry, traditional cart race, wrestling for juniors, Pelikro wise folksong and bamboo stilt walk were competed between the different peer groups of Merama, a clan of Phesama.
