Motorola has officially announced its latest lineup of foldable smartphones, the Moto Razr 40 Ultra and Moto Razr 40, in China. The global launch of these foldable devices is yet to be confirmed.

The upcoming new Moto Razr 40 Ultra will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The frame of the device is crafted from 7000-series aluminium, while the back will come in either Gorilla Glass Victus or vegan leather.

What sets the Moto Razr 40 Ultra apart is its remarkable 3.6-inch external display, the largest ever seen on a clamshell foldable device. This external display utilises a 10-bit AMOLED panel with a 1066 x 1056 pixels resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Users can perform various tasks on the cover screen without unfolding the main display, including watching videos or responding to emails.

The device’s main display is a 6.69-inch FHD+ LTPO AMOLED panel with a 165Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. It houses a 32MP front-facing camera and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for added security.

On the other hand, the vanilla Moto Razr 40 features a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and 144Hz refresh rate and a small 1.5-inch cover screen for notifications and camera preview.

The Moto Razr 40 runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset and comes in two storage options: 8GB/12GB or 128GB/256GB. The device features a 4,200mAh battery with 30W fast wired charging and 5W wireless charging support. The Moto Razr 40 comes in Sage Green, Vanilla Cream, and Summer Lilac colours, starting at CNY 3,999 ($562) for the base model. It will be available in China from June 25.
