Mon DPDB discusses on SAGY scheme

Dimapur, Aug. 16 (EMN): Discussion on Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) scheme dominated the Mon District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting held on August 16 under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner and vice chairman DPDB, Mon, Thavaseelam K.

Taking part in the discussion, SDO (C) Angjangyan, Yanthung N Ngullie, explained that SAGY is a rural development programme broadly focusing on the development of villages including social, cultural and spread motivation among the people on social mobilisation of the village community.

With special emphasis on Angphang model village, he stated that the development of model villages are through the implementation of existing schemes and certain new initiation to be designed in the local context. He also explained on funding and monitoring of SAGY.

District Horticulture Officer, Mon, Eyongol, and the Horticulture Inspector, Shikmeth Konyak, presented in a slide show on the departmental activities under DHO, Mon. They spoke in detail on the activities of Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) and Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVK). It was also informed that oranges from Mon district won the first and third prizes in the state competition during the Hornbill Festival 2018.

Meanwhile, the DC congratulated all DPDB members and departments for successful conduct of Independence Day celebration in Mon district.
