Mokokchung police registers 111 cases in 2021

Mokokchung, Jan. 6 (EMN):
A total of 111 cases were registered under nine police stations in Mokokchung district from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2021. Tuli police registered the highest number with 36 cases, while Longchem and Kobulong police stations recorded nil case.

This was informed by the Mokokchung additional superintendent of police and PRO, Imtimeren, to the media persons in his office chamber on January 6.

Out of 111 cases registered, 40 cases are pending investigation, while 62 were charge-sheeted and nine cases issued final report. Only 4 cases have been convicted, it was informed.

The officer informed that a total of 50 cases were registered under NLTP Act and 15,750 litre of liquor was seized worth an amount of INR 52,95,000. He added that 10 cases were registered under the NDPS Act. The seized narcotics included 54 ½ gram of brown sugar worth approximately INR 72,000 and 887 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon worth approximately INR 76,000.

The office further informed that 26 cases related to theft, two cases of murder, one case of attempt to murder, six cases of extortion, two cases of outrage against women modesty, one case under POCSO Act, two cases under IT Act and four cases under Arms Act. 

Other cases included causing death due to negligence, kidnapping, cheating, burglary, criminal breach of trust, vehicle incident, hurt, and other IPC.
